Denver Digerati is a special initiative I founded in 2013 while serving as the Creative Director for the Denver Theatre District. The essential premise was to support digital animation and motion artists who were primarily focused in utilizing technology to create works of extraordinary imagination. The initiative developed due to having direct access to public LED displays that were being placed into the core of downtown Denver, with the goal of presenting arts based activations in a meaningful capacity. The project continues to this day as a nonprofit arts organization supporting the annual Supernova Digital Animation Festival and other year long programming that supports digital arts.
This portfolio is an adjunct to works in the Supernova portfolio, consisting primarily of select promotional graphics from the Friday Flash series that over three years formed the basis leading up to the advent of the annual festival. At this time Denver Digerati was a spark that ignited my interest, managed as a special project while Plus Gallery and my position as Creative Director for the Denver Theatre District were still my primary focus. Denver Digerati’s emphasis on motion graphics and digital animation allowed me to expand my portfolio from marketing fliers and 2d visual designs into a vast array of motion titles and promotions that were widely integrated into elaborate video presentations through Supernova. My expertise with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop successfully merged with a solid and practical knowledge of After Effects, the primary tool for positioning motion works for variable format LED screens.
