Denver Digerati’s singular initiative that positioned Digital Animation as Public Art

Denver Digerati presented a monthly rotation of select digital animations presented daily on the impeccable 16th and Arapahoe LED Screen located in the heart of downtown Denver, Colorado, directly adjacent to the historic Daniels & Fisher Clocktower where Night Lights Denver concurrently takes place. My curation of artworks and animations on this screen began with its launch in late 2017, supported by the Denver Theatre District and media partner Orange Barrel Media. Over 100 distinct 30-second animations were presented through late summer 2022 in the monthly rotations, running within the changing cycles of paid advertising throughout the day and night, affording optimal visibility for artists and works selected for this initiative. Denver Digerati also utilized the screen as a focal location for Supernova’s annual Silent Screen initiative, a core program that presents digital animations of longer duration throughout an entire day without advertising, selected through an international call for proposals.
